Welcome to
the first of a kind motorcycle competition in the
United
States. Unique, because we
combine motor officers (retired and active) and civilians in
the same event.
Celebrate our second annual NYC Metro Motor Skills
competition and safety seminar with us September, 16,17,18,
2010 at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, NY.
NYC METRO MOTOR
SKILLS
The seed
for NYC Metro was planted in Troy, Michigan at the Midwest
Police Motorcycle Training facility in April, 2008. The idea for an integrated motorcycle
competition was discussed during the Advanced Training program
for civilians.
After overcoming numerous obstacles it was our pleasure
to host the first police and civilian competition ever in the
United
States.
We
welcomed forty eight competitors and hundreds of spectators
whose enthusiasm was overwhelming. Word spread quickly
and we received inquiries from all over the country. This year’s
competition will be bigger and better than ever. Our goal is to make
our competition the premiere event in the U.S.
MOTORCYCLE SKILLS
TRAINING AND COMPETITION
Motorcycle
skills competitions also known as motorcycle rodeos were
limited to active motor officers. Other rodeos attended
by local motorcycle clubs were events that left something to
be desired by the more experienced rider. The difference is in
the training.
Police
motor officers are the best trained motorcycle riders’
period---the top 1% riders in the nation. Midwest Police
Motorcycle Training offers police type training for the
civilian and after thirty two hours in the primary course,
forty hours in the advanced class and fifty six hours of the
advanced level 2 training (competition riding) a civilian
could run with the big dogs.
Novice and
Intermediate class will be featured for civilians who have not
yet advanced to or completed, formal police type
training. Expert
class will be restricted to police officers and civilians with
adequate training, determined by our safety
committee.
Motorcycle
exercises in the competition will consist of a series of cones
placed appropriately to challenge each class of rider. To sample some of the
expert courses visit www.motorcops.com , click
on ‘training’, then ‘cone patterns’. Novice and
Intermediate will follow suit with different
dimensions.
Enjoy a
day of riding exhibitions and competition knowing that all
donations will enhance the NYPD/FDNY Widows’ and Children’s
Fund. As the name
implies this foundation provides badly needed assistance to
families of police and fire-fighters killed or disabled in the
line of duty.
WHAT’S THE POINT
It is not difficult to
get a motorcycle license today. A license however,
will not help you in an emergency. Safety awareness
through proper motorcycle training is our focus. The competition will
foster motorcycle safety, bring police officers and civilian
riders together and promote safe riding techniques. The events challenge
every rider. The
results will demonstrate how you stock up against the very
best riders in each class. Whether you are a new
rider, experienced but untried or an expert, you will find a
class that will test you skills and make you better at what
you love to do---ride.
Check out our list of events and find out how they are
run.
Our events will test
you situational awareness, ability to multitask under pressure
and provide both new and time tested riding techniques. It doesn’t matter what
your skill level is, come, participate, learn and enjoy the
camaraderie.
